Jiangnan University was approved to establish a first-level professional master's degree program in education in 2019 and started enrolling students in 2020. The initial enrollment includes a specialization in secondary school history. This discipline relies on the Education History and Culture Team and the History Research Institute of Jiangnan University. It has formed a team of mentors with a reasonable academic structure, diverse academic backgrounds, and strong research capabilities. The mentor team consists of 3 professors, 2 associate professors, and 2 special-grade teachers. In recent years, the discipline has undertaken more than 10 national, provincial, and ministerial-level projects in the fields of secondary school history teaching, educational history, and culture. It has received over 13 awards at the provincial and ministerial level. Additionally, it has published more than 30 books and textbooks, and nearly 100 research papers have been published, including nearly 40 high-quality papers indexed by CSSCI, SSCI, and other databases. The discipline has gained recognition and praise from the academic community and society for its talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and innovation in cultural inheritance.
We adhere to the principle of cultivating students' moral character, and aim to train high-quality secondary school history teachers with broad vision, comprehensive qualities, outstanding abilities, and the ability to adapt to modern requirements. The specific requirements are as follows:
1. Love the motherland and support the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Love the cause of education, be a role model for students, be proactive, and be innovative. Students should consciously establish their moral character, learn based on moral principles, and teach with moral principles, firmly following the path of socialist education with Chinese characteristics.
2. Correctly understand and grasp the national educational policies and regulations, highlight moral education in the classroom, promote exemplary moral character, and establish rules for morality. Have good professional ethics and a sense of social responsibility to serve the development of basic education.
3. Possess a high level of theoretical literacy, form an advanced educational concept that conforms to the requirements of basic education reform and development, and strive to be a "four-have" good teacher with ideal beliefs, moral sentiments, solid knowledge, and a compassionate heart.
4. Have strong practical teaching abilities, be able to effectively carry out history teaching work, master various skills, strategies, and resources necessary for teaching history courses in basic education schools, be proficient in the use of modern education technology, and be able to apply learned theory and methods to solve practical problems in history teaching.
5. Understand the practical aspects of secondary school history education reform, have a strong willingness and ability to develop professionally, possess awareness and abilities for discovering and solving problems, lifelong learning and development. Develop a multi-dimensional and multi-perspective analysis of educational issues and continuously innovate practice.
6. Be familiar with the cutting-edge achievements in the field of historical research, and be able to proficiently use a foreign language to read professional foreign literature materials.
