In 2019, Jiangnan University was approved to establish a Master's program in Subject Teaching (English) Education. This degree program boasts a highly qualified team with strong interdisciplinary expertise in language science and language teaching. The team has long been devoted to research on secondary school English curriculum and teaching, ensuring the quality of practical professional talent development. They have undertaken over 30 national and provincial-level projects, received more than 20 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, published over 20 books and textbooks, and published nearly 200 papers, including around 56 high-quality papers indexed by SCI, CSSCI, and other databases. The employment rate of graduates from this program is close to 100%, and they are highly sought after by employers. They have played a pivotal role in English teaching and research at their respective schools. The program of Subject Teaching (English) has gained recognition and praise from academia and society in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and cultural innovation.
The objective of the Master's program in Subject Teaching (English) Education at the School of Humanities, Jiangnan University, aims to cultivate highly qualified secondary school English teachers who have a broad vision, comprehensive qualities, outstanding abilities, and are capable of adapting to the high-quality development of education in contemporary China and the requirements of educational internationalization. The specific objectives are as follows:
