Jiangnan University was approved to offer a professional Master's degree in Subject Teaching (Chinese Language) in 2019. This degree program has a highly qualified and educated faculty team, with notable strengths in contemporary literature research, ancient literature research, and interdisciplinary integration of Chinese language education. The discipline has a national-level base for cultivating students' humanistic qualities, a national training base for primary and secondary school teachers designated by the Ministry of Education, and a teacher training and research base in Jiangsu Province. It has been awarded one national-level excellent course and three provincial-level excellent courses. In recent years, it has undertaken over 60 projects at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels, and has received more than 40 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. Over 50 books and textbooks have been published, and nearly 300 papers have been published, including nearly 80 high-quality papers indexed by SCI, CSSCI, and other databases. Graduates of this program, besides pursuing doctoral degrees, mainly engage in basic education careers, and have been recognized and praised by employers and various sectors of society.
Adhering to the principle of cultivating students with integrity and promoting their comprehensive development, we aim to train highly qualified Chinese language teachers for secondary schools with broad perspectives, well-rounded qualities, exceptional abilities, and adaptability to modern requirements. The specific objectives are as follows:

Have a passion for the education cause, impart knowledge, serve as a role model, be proactive, and embrace innovation. Students should consciously establish their character, conduct themselves with integrity, and firmly follow the path of socialist education with Chinese characteristics.
2. Understand and grasp the national educational policies and regulations correctly. Emphasize moral education in the classroom, exemplify moral values, and establish rules for ethics. Possess good professional ethics and a sense of social responsibility towards the development of basic education.
3. Possess a high level of theoretical literacy and develop advanced educational concepts that conform to the reform and development of basic education and meet the demands of the times. Strive to become a "Four-Have" excellent teacher with ideals and beliefs, moral integrity, solid knowledge, and a compassionate heart.
4. Demonstrate strong practical teaching abilities, effectively carry out Chinese language teaching, master various skills, strategies, and resources required to teach Chinese language and literature in basic education schools. Proficiently use modern educational technology and apply learned theories and methods to solve practical problems in Chinese language teaching.

Understand the practical aspects of Chinese language education reform in secondary schools, have a strong willingness and ability for independent professional development, and possess awareness and abilities for problem-solving, lifelong learning, and personal growth. Develop the consciousness and abilities to analyze educational issues from multiple dimensions and perspectives, and continuously innovate in practice.
6. Be familiar with the latest achievements in the fields of literature and linguistics research, and be proficient in using foreign language literature materials related to the professional field of Chinese language teaching.
