Jiangnan culture and Film and Television Research Center was set up jointly by Jiangnan University and Wuxi culture, broadcast and news office in December 2007, which added as a city-level research base in 2013. The center's existing senior titles of 10 researchers (1 professors and 5 associate Professor), Ph.D. researcher accounted for 50%.
With the concept of "humanistic pragmatism, serve the Society", the research center participates in the government's cultural construction for a long time, serving the city's social and economic development. Main research directions include Wu (Jiangnan) cultural research, film and television culture and art research. Since its establishment, the center has become an influential institute in the research of Wu culture research and cultural industry. It has planned 7 large-scale cultural activities, completed more than 40 scientific research projects (9 national, provincial and ministerial projects), published 18 writings, published more than 50 CSSCI papers, and submitted 9 research report that provide a reference for local government decision-making. It has been added as a government think-tank of cultural construction.
It won the fourth session of the cultural and artistic Outstanding Contribution Award in 2011. It also was the editor-in-chief of the blue book of the city cultural Industry Development in 2013. The Humanities documentary "said Wu" won "the top ten documentary" Gold Award by the sixth session of the international election film, and the book with the same name won the National Excellent Book Award in 2010. The "temple war" large-scale documentary film cooperated with CCTV together was created in 2015.
